Introducing Surge, the hero character I've been working on for the last semester of my time at DigiPen. Inspired by the game Overwatch, I wanted to design a hero character that could work in the game's universe. I focused on highlighting Surge's strength as a hero while using the Overwatch art style as a foundation. This was a challenging assignment, but it gave me a greater appreciation for the Overwatch art team. Elizabeth Savvy, also known as Surge, is a 25-year-old secret agent who specializes in martial arts combat. Drafted into a secret agent program at a young age, she has no known family and was trained to be a humanoid weapon. During a mission to recover a stolen EMP bomb, she and the EMP were struck by lightning, causing a chain reaction that fused the lightning electrons to her atoms. This made her body a walking lightning bolt, producing an excess amount of electricity that zaps everything around her. The surge of energy also caused her to suffer memory loss and electrical burns across her entire body.

Scientists and engineers worked hard to create the body suit and armor that Surge wears today. Her suit captures and converts her internal electricity into power for her weapons, making her a self-sufficient source of power and an undefeatable warrior.
